"I have used the Amish Quilting Service for the past four years and have been very pleased with the personal attention given to my quilts. The designs are well-chosen and appropriate to the quilt while the quality of the quilting is excellent--such lovely tiny stitches! The quilts are returned to me in a timely manner, enabling me to meet my deadlines as a quilt book author. Who could ask for more?"     -- Nancy J. Martin, President, Martingale and Co. and noted quilt author and teacher
Our Service
The Amish Quilting Service is in Holmes County, Ohio, home to the largest
Amish settlement in the world. Since 1983 our Amish/Mennonite quilters have
transformed more than 4000 old and new quilt tops into finished heirloom
quilts, that customers are proud to own and give as gifts.
When you work with us to turn your quilt tops into quilts,
you are working with the Amish community, renown for its fine craftsmanship,
work ethic, and unique heritage.
How It Works
In about twelve weeks you can have an heirloom hand-quilted quilt. First,
an Amish woman with many years of experience will mark
your quilt. Next is the quilting. Only one woman works on the actual quilting
of your piece, although sometimes two family members do your quilt, and
in these cases their quilting styles are indistinguishable. Finally, another
will stitch the binding onto the
tops with her Bernina and then very finely hand-stitch them to the back.
These women work in their homes, fitting their quilt-work in between caring
for their families, their gardens and their friends in the community.
Our Promise
We value the unique skills of our customers, as well as those of our quilters,
markers and binders. We get joy and satisfaction from combining the best
of each person's talents in the creation of a beautiful piece of fabric
art. Each quilt top, each customer, and each quilter, has a story to tell
that is inexplicably woven into the finished product.
We stake our reputation and continued business on making
sure that customers are happy with our service. If you are not satisfied
with the finished product we will work with you to make adjustments. We
take pride in the fact that many of our customers
have returned many times again over the years.
